Privacy Policy

TabSave is a Chrome extension that helps you save, organize, and restore browser tabs. This Privacy Policy explains how TabSave (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use TabSave.

Last Updated: October 5, 2026

Summary

TabSave stores the tab information you choose to save locally in your Chrome browser. TabSave does not require an account. We do not sell, rent, or share your saved-tab data, and TabSave does not transmit that data to our servers.

Information TabSave handles

To provide its tab-saving and restoration features, TabSave may handle:

  • Page URLs, titles, and domain names for tabs you save;
  • Favicon addresses made available by Chrome for saved tabs;
  • Group and session names, group colors, tab order, pinned-tab state, and dates needed to organize and restore saved tabs;
  • Session-history versions: after you save a session, TabSave records a new version when you choose Save Version and automatically every 15 minutes while that session’s windows change, keeping the 10 most recent per session;
  • Tabs you move into a Chrome tab group that is linked to a saved TabSave group; and
  • The contents of files you choose to import, held as a preview until you confirm or cancel the import.

This information can reflect your browsing activity. TabSave does not request access to your Chrome browsing history, and uses this information only to provide the extension’s features.

How information is used

TabSave uses saved-tab information only to:

  • Save, display, search, import, and export the tabs, groups, and sessions you choose to keep;
  • Restore individual tabs, groups, sessions, and earlier saved session versions when you request it; and
  • Maintain the extension’s local settings and organization.

Storage and sharing

TabSave stores its saved-tab data using Chrome’s local extension storage on your device. TabSave does not operate a cloud sync service, does not sell or share saved-tab data, and does not send saved-tab data to TabSave or third parties.

To keep a session up to date, TabSave also remembers which open Chrome windows belong to it, in Chrome’s temporary session storage, which is cleared when you close the browser.

To show icons, Chrome loads each saved tab’s favicon from the address the website provided, much as it does when you visit the site. Files you export are saved where you choose and are no longer controlled by TabSave.

Your choices and deletion

You can delete individual saved tabs, entire groups, sessions, and earlier session versions from TabSave. Deleting a session also deletes its whole history. Uninstalling the extension removes all of TabSave’s locally stored data. Removing local data cannot be undone.

Third-party services

TabSave does not use third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or data-broker services.

Limited Use

TabSave’s use of information received through Chrome extension APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Saved-tab data is used only to provide TabSave’s tab-saving features, is never transferred to anyone, is never used for advertising or to determine creditworthiness, and is never read by humans.

Children’s privacy

TabSave is not directed to children under the age at which parental consent is required in their jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when TabSave changes or when required by law. We will post the updated policy here and revise the effective date above.
